Architectural Design Studios

Architectural Studios are at the center of the undergraduate and graduate programs in Architecture. Students explore architectural issues in a variety of ways across the year levels, led by full-time, part time practitioners, and Teaching Firms in Residence.

ARCH 113-114 Core I-II

Introduces fundamentals of architectural design from abstract principles to built/occupied form, developed in two and three dimensions

Students develop a design process while emphasizing context, climate, program, materials and structure as determinants of form.

ARCH 513 Integrated

Brings all aspects of design together in an integrative process, through conceptual, schematic and design development, technical documentation, assessment.

ARCH 517 Revitalization

Focuses on the design and adaptation of existing and historic buildings and sites, achieved through collaboration among teams and multiple disciplines.

ARCH 613 Thesis

Each student develops a design thesis of their own choosing at a conclusion of their graduate studies, from research begun in the Graduate Thesis Research Seminar.
